About The Book

Future Flight is organized into four parts that together build a complete picture.

Part I: The Landscape — The scale and velocity of the drone revolution, the geopolitical competition with China, the talent deficit that threatens to become the binding constraint on growth, and the manufacturing imperative that federal policy has made urgently real.

Part II: Building the Workforce — The education and credentialing pipeline, the business case for the full talent pool and the employer strategies that retain what the pipeline produces.

Part III: Following the Money — Public investment, private capital, defense spending, and the regional economic development competition that will determine where the industry's long-term value lands.

Part IV: The Future — Advanced air mobility, the regulatory architecture the next decade requires, the integrated national strategy that workforce, investment, and manufacturing together demand, and a call to action.

From the Foreward

"Sharon Rossmark is uniquely qualified to write this book. She is not an academic or a think-tank analyst. She brings more than a decade of direct, hands-on engagement with the people actually building the commercial drone ecosystem. Her combined experience in business, drones, workforce development, and investing allows her to both identify real problems and offer practical, grounded solutions."

"Read Future Flight.  Then act on it."

Robin R. Murphy, Ph.D. Raytheon Professor Emeritus of Computer Science and Engineering, Texas A&M University

About The Author

Strategist. Builder. Connector.

Sharon Rossmark does not write about the drone industry from the outside looking in. She has spent more than a decade building it from within, in classrooms, on flight lines, at conference stages, in investment meetings, and in the policy rooms where the rules governing the next era of American aviation are being written.

That vantage point is what makes Future Flight different from every other book about drones. It is not an analyst's overview or an academic survey. It is a field report from someone who has watched an extraordinary industry limit its own potential by failing to take its most solvable problems seriously and who has spent years working to solve them.

Sharon Rossmark is the Founder and CEO of Women and Drones, and has spent more than a decade at the intersection of drone technology, workforce development, and the strategic future of uncrewed aviation.
